Advocacy

Gender equality and diversity policies demonstrate a workplace’s commitment to improving measurable gender equality outcomes with respect to employee representation, value, safety and recognition. Within these overarching categories, policies can address: recruitment and advancement processes to ensure quality between women and men; equal pay for equal work; recognition and rewards that are unbiased and based on contribution and performance; non-discriminatory approaches to care and family responsibilities; and genuine access to various positions and levels of leadership by removing gender-based barriers. The organization’s advocacy presents a shared vision of equality and justice by advocating for the following policies:

The Tulong Bahaghari Act allows free mental health consultation for LGBTQIA+ people that are victims of hate crimes and harassment, and requires state and local correctional facilities to accommodate queer people that are in need of food and shelter.

The SOGIE Equality Bill is meant to fulfill the rights set forth in the 1987 constitution, particularly the equal protection clause. It recognizes the LGBTQ++ as equals and ensures that their rights are protected as much as everyone’s is. The bill also acknowledges the Philippines duties under international law particularly the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. It thus recognizes the non-discrimination of the LGBTQ++ as both a national and international duty.

The Gender Recognition Act 2004 of the United Kingdom reduces the unnecessary difficulties and expenses that prevent people from updating birth certificates and drivers’ licenses, and making legal name changes that further affirm their identities and keep them safe.

The creation of an LGBTQIA+ Elders Club to maintain the social interaction of queer elderly people and to provide a safe and relatable society despite of age.

The Égalité Identity Act prohibits discrimination against SOGIE and ensures that other people address them by their preferred names and pronouns. It also gives access to informative items, clothing, and other materials through Égalité's webpage that is consistent with their gender identities.

Comprehensive Sex Education in Schools Regulation in which public schools are required to teach medically accurate, inclusive, K-12 comprehensive sex education that is age-appropriate and reflects national standards and best practices.

Égalité Eternal Equality act (Triple E) - adheres to a new possibility of rising humanity giving every Filipino a special program and making Filipinos respect non-straights people. Triple E was made by the Égalité organization to reject chauvinist and racist attitudes, prevent discrimination, solve child abuse, and help Filipinos treat themselves equally.

The Magna Carta of Women (Republic Act No. 9710) defines the Gender and Development Program (GAD) as the development perspective and process that is participatory and empowering, equitable, sustainable, free from violence, respectful of human rights, supportive of self-determination and actualization of human potential. It seeks to achieve gender equality as a fundamental value that should be reflected in development choices and contends that women are active agents of development, not just passive recipients of development.

GAD focuses on Gender Mainstreaming or a strategy for:

  • making women’s as well as men’s concerns and experiences an integral dimension of the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of policies, programs and projects in all social, political, civil, and economic spheres so that women and men benefit equally.

  • assessing the implications for women and men of any planned action, including legislation, policies or programs in all areas and at all levels

Overall, Égalité strives to advocate policies that promote SOGIE. Together we are serving to:

  • Aid Food and Shelter for Queer People in need

  • Increase Access to Mental Health Services

  • Assist Vulnerable Queer People through Restorative Justice Principles

  • Advance Equality & Inclusion for Transgender & Gender Nonconforming People

  • Ensure LGBTQIA+ Identity & Recognition

  • Implement Comprehensive Sex Education
